Marshall I. Rathbun, Age :82

Marshall I. Rathbun 82 went to his heavenly home on October 3rd, 2019. Marshall passed away peacefully at his home.  Marshall was born on November 9th, 1936 in Independence, Kansas to Roy I. Rathbun and Olive Oleene Rathbun (Orndorff ). He was the second child born to this union.

Marshall’s early years were spent in Independence and he attended area schools. His family moved to Enid, Oklahoma where he grew to manhood. He graduated from Enid High School in 1954. He served in the Oklahoma National Guard in the late 1950’s. Marshall was a gifted musician and he could play piano and several instruments. He was also gifted with a beautiful voice and was part of a quartet that traveled all over the country during his college years. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Enid, Oklahoma and a born again Christian. He attended Phillips University in Enid, Okla. with a degree in Mathematics and masters in Math and Computer Science.

He was united in marriage on June 5th, 1960 to Peggy S. Bullock. They later divorced.

On May 31st, 1975 he married the love of his life, Elizabeth Mae Foster Rathbun. She preceded him in death on  June 28th, 2005 .  They enjoyed square dancing, traveling and spending time with their grandchildren whom they adored and was always their #1 focus.

Besides his beloved Elizabeth preceding him in death are his parents, a sister JoAnn O. Bush Holcomb, a step daughter Diana Maurer.

Survivors include Step son–in-law Larry Maurer from Ellicott City, Maryland step son Dale Foster from Phoenix, Az,  daughter-in-law Gwen Morris from Olathe,Ks. Four grandchildren,  Katrina Maurer from Ellicott City, Maryland, Amanda Maurer Conte and her husband from New York, NY, Jeremy Foster and wife Tracy from Kansas City, Mo and Jenna Foster of Kansas City and three great grandchildren. Three nieces Diana Barbee Hochhaus and her husband Larry of Tulsa, Ok, Linda Davis and her husband James of Parsons, Ks and Christina (Tina) Robinson and her husband Clark of Parsons, Ks. Numerous Grand nieces and nephews as well as Great grand Nieces and Nephews.

A very special Thanks goes out to Gwen Morris for her constant and continuous care of Marshall in his last years when his health began to fail.  Marshall loved and appreciated her for all the care and love shown to him. He loved all his family very much each and every one of them.

He leaves us all with wonderful memories we will cherish for the rest of our lives.
