OBITUARIES DETAIL

Frances Woodward Moody, Age :93

Apr 05,1927---May 19,2020

Frances was a long-time Kansas City, MO resident. She was the wife of the late Perry (Jud) Moody, Jr. Frances was born in Brooksville, MS, raised in Downers Grove, IL and graduated from William Woods College in 1946. Frances was an only child. When her parents moved to Kansas City in 1946, her future mother-in-law, Mrs. Moody sold them their home.  Mrs. Moody had three boys at home just back from WWII and she was looking for wives for them. So thus Frances was invited to dinner and met Jud.  They were married August 31, 1947.  Together they ran Jud's Schwinn Cyclery on Wornall Road in Kansas City for 20 years. After selling the business, Frances followed her son to Illinois and then to Florida.

Frances had a busy life in retirement; she was an accomplished painter and enjoyed visiting art gallery's - especially the Nelson-Atkins in Kansas City and the Art Institute in Chicago.  She always had a small dog in her life - all rescue dogs that she showered with love. Her faith was important to her; she was a long time member of the Colonial Presbyterian Church in Kansas City. She traveled often, including a cruise to Alaska as well as trips to Hawaii and Canada. She was especially fond of her trips to Israel and Germany to see the Oberammergau Passion Play. She had many friends that she kept in touch with long after she left Kansas City and made new ones wherever she went. She had a smile for everyone and often a joke of some sort as well. She enjoyed family and had special relationships with two of her grandchildren: Paige and Elise.

Frances is survived by her two children and their spouses: Perry & Paula Moody (Sarasota, FL) and Melissa & Jeff Walsh (Danville, CA);  her six grandchildren: Joe  Cervantes (Jessica), Paige Cervantes, Elise Robinson, Megan Majeski, Brian Walsh, and Caitlin Crowe (Ben);  her eight great-grandchildren: Christian Cervantes, Karli Cervantes, Adam Holm, Cierra Holm, Brett Robinson, Ashlyn Neumann, Oakley Allen, and Jackson Majeski.

Frances will be interred at the Lenexa Cemetery with a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution in her name to the scholarship fund for staff at:

Westminister-Point Pleasant, Attn: Sue Hardesty, 1533 4th Avenue West, Bradenton, Fl 34205.

Checks should be made out to Westminster Foundation and in the memo it should read Point Pleasant Scholarship Fund in memory of Frances Moody. Frances spent her last 7 years at this retirement home and the staff were exceptional right to the end.
