OBITUARIES DETAIL

Marguerite “Peggy” Brooker

Marguerite “Peggy” Brooker, 69, Overland Park, KS passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 3, 2020. Her husband Steven was at her bedside holding her hand in the final hours of her life.

Peggy was born on January 8, 1951, in Chicago Illinois, the daughter of Robert Joseph and Rita Marie Faloona. Peggy moved to the Kansas City area shortly after high school to start a life for herself and that’s where she met Steven. Peggy continued her education achieving her Bachelor’s degree. Peggy worked mainly for pharmaceutical companies starting with Marion Merrill Dow and lastly Teva Neuroscience as a legal coordinator.

She was preceded in death by both her parents and her sister Mary Jo Davia. Peggy is survived by her husband of 37 years, Steven Michael Brooker, four sons, Brian, Nicholas, Todd and Joseph and her granddaughter Emma. Also survived by her brother Dan Faloona, her sisters Kerry (Michael) Hayden, and Nancy (Ken)  Klausner.  Many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Peggy had a long battle with breast cancer but never let it define who she was. She never felt sorry for herself or complained. Peggy held a deep faith and belief in God. Her faith helped guide and comfort her through her battle with cancer. Peggy loved bees and butterflies and enjoyed visiting the Powell Gardens in Kingsville, MO. Peggy also loved to go with Steven to the Royals and Chiefs games. One of Peggy’s favorite hobbies was enjoying movies. For many years at Teva, she would organize a contest for her fellow employees to pick the Oscar winners. Peggy, first and foremost, was dedicated to her family. She was always thinking of her boys ahead of herself. This is evident in the fine young men that they’ve become. The addition of her granddaughter Emma, in the final decade of her life was an immense joy.

A private memorial service for the family will be held at the Wesley Chapel at Church of the Resurrection in Leawood Kansas on Tuesday, August 11th at 3:30 p.m. You are most welcome to join us via live stream. The link is cor.org/memorialsonline.
