Margaret “Peggy” Clark

September 26,1930 - December 29, 2018

Quietly, peacefully and on her own terms Peggy began her journey to the next realm early Saturday morning December 29. With love and fond memories she will be sorely missed.

Beloved Great Grandmother of 3, Grandmother to 5, and Mom to 5 she lived her life for others, rarely thinking of her own benefit. Of her loving family, four of her 5 grown children will be memorializing: David Crawford of Lawrence, Kansas; Therese Phillips of Leawood, Kansas; Timothy Clark of Auburn, WA; and Katherine Kessler of Grand Junction, CO. In recent years, Peggy’s good friend and roommate Cynthia Simpson, Overland Park, KS had kept her company and watched over her well-being. She has become part of Peggy’s family and will join the others in memorial.

Greeting her arrival on the other side will be her Mom and Dad, William and Bess Kley, and her two brothers William Kley Jr.and Carl Kley. Also preceding Peggy was her first husband, William Crawford Jr., whose untimely death on a fighter jet exercise left Peggy as a single mom for a time, until she married Eugene Clark II in 1956. Eugene II and son Eugene III both passed in 2008.

Always ready to enjoy a gathering, Peggy loved to tell stories of farm life in rural Atchison County. Of the horse that would wander into the house; the chickens that would often end up on the Sunday dinner table; and tales of the hungry travelers that her mom would generously feed at the back door. She loved having company, and also loved and looked after children most of her life.

Ready for a challenge when her youngest, Katherine was old enough to attend school, Peggy started a career in child care. She began at Mission Day Care, where she became Director. Following certification in early childhood development at Emporia State University, she enjoyed her days employed with Central Church of the Nazarene Daycare Center, and  Trinity Lutheran Church Preschool, both in Lenexa, KS. Later, she finished her career by retiring from Rainbow School at 79th and Holmes, Kansas City, MO. in 2007.

Peggy is and has been a member of Country Club United Methodist Church for 55 years. A memorial service will be held at the church, Sunday Jan. 6th at 2 pm. 400 West 57th Street, Kansas City, MO 64113 Tel. 816 444 1616
