OBITUARIES DETAIL

Vernon Lawrence Robinett, Age :59

Jul 16,1959---Mar 05,2019

On Tuesday, March 5, 2019, Vernon Lawrence Robinett, husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend went home to be with his Lord at the age of 59 after an almost year long fight with Cancer.

Vernon Robinett was born July 16, 1959 in Kansas City, Kansas, and was a proud resident of the Kansas City area for his entire life. He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Regina Lane, on March 3,1978 and they have two children, Jeannie and Ricky.

Vernon started working at a young age and he loved to work. At the age of 16 he started working at Package Service Company. It was there that Vernon began his over 40-year career in the label business. Throughout his career, Vernon was constantly pushing himself. While balancing a full-time job, a wife, and two mischievous kids at home, he completed his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business and his MBA from Park University. As much as he loved building his own career, he loved helping others in their career journeys even more. Vernon ended the final season of his career on earth as Vice President of Production for Tabco, Inc. We expect his next role will be Vice President of Production for Heaven Labels, Inc.

Vernon loved his family. He was a loving and caring husband and father who made his family the center of his life. Even when it came to his hobbies, he would always find ways to involve his family.

One of his favorite hobbies was cars. He turned into a little kid again when it came to his cars, and he was always making his cars a family activity -- whether that was featuring them in a family Christmas card or driving in a parade with his kids in the backseat throwing out candy.

His love of cars extended into his love of NASCAR and he saw that as an opportunity to spend more time with his son. He bought season tickets for the two of them to go to races together at Kansas Speedway. Because he was a season ticket holder, he was given the opportunity to drive one of his cars around the race track each year. He’d often take Regina and she’d have an opportunity to be reminded of what he was like when they first met-- his smile got a little too big and his foot got a little too heavy as they went around the track. Fortunately, in his adult life he never left Regina standing at the starting line when the cops arrived… though that did happen when they were dating.

Vernon was a natural at remodeling houses and wood working. He involved both his children in his adventures into refurbishing and renting houses. Not to be left out, his wife was constantly finding new “opportunities” for him to remodel their own home, which he was always happy and proud to do.

Refurbishing houses or buying cars, Vernon was always looking for a bargain! He and his daughter would spend time together looking at open houses and going to garage sales.  It didn’t matter what it was, cars, houses, or miscellaneous items; he wanted to find a good deal. And of course, he wanted to share the news of those great deals with family and friends,

Most importantly, Vernon loved God. Over the past 15 years he devoted his life to his relationship with God. He was an active member of Platte Woods United Methodist Church and it was his faith that carried him through the ups and downs of life. It was his faith that ultimately gave him peace. He was not afraid to share his story and how his faith had grown through the years because of his experiences. He wanted to make an impact on people through his words and actions in hope they would desire to have a relationship with God.

Vernon leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Regina, his daughter, Jeannie and son Ricky (Hannah), as well as three granddaughters, Aliyah, Alyssa, and Faraday.  He will also be fondly remembered by his parents Florence, Neal (Jackie), Rodney (Kathy); his brothers, Ray (Sara), Bobby (Carol), and Randy (Billi), his sister, Debbie; his step-brothers, Errol (Sheila),Tad, Donny (Tammy), and Brad; his step-sisters,  Annie, and Shelly (Gere); his mother-in-law, Sarah, and his brothers-in-law, David, Richard (Esther) and Randy (Lydia).

Vernon was preceded in death by his grandparents, Helen and Aubrey, Martha and John, Orvile and Alberta, his step-father, Gary, his step-father-in-law, Harry, his brother-in-law, Reggie and sister-in-law Roberte.

Visitation will be held on Sunday. March 10, 2019  from 1:00-2:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 2:15 p.m., at Platte Woods United Methodist Church, 7310 NW Prairie View Rd, Kansas City, MO 64151.
